Dear Friends,

When I close my eyes and start playing the piano, I immediately travel back to the beautiful rolling hills covered with golden wheat, the centuries-old olive groves, and the oaks dotting the winding narrow roads that travel down to the Jordan River and then up again to Jerusalem. A certain spirituality and biblical sacredness is cast over this area. Perhaps because this is the land that many prophets had walked and settled in over the centuries? This image is well nestled in my imagination and soul. When I was but a boy living in Jordan, this place was my earliest inspiration and my simplest recollection of what “peace” represented to me.

In Jordan, we have been very fortunate to have been raised in a culture that promotes the values of compassion and tolerance; teachings that are well integrated within our cultural fabric. Inspired by the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, One Night in Jordan is a message of peace to the world from our Jordanian family, sent from the heart of our ancient land. It represents our commitment and yearning to a final reconciliation in the Middle East.

One Night in Jordan is dedicated in loving memory of His Majesty the late King Hussein
of Jordan who worked his entire life with endless resolve and determination to make peace in the Middle East.

This special project has been possible because of the patronage and tremendous support of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein whose unwavering faith in the ability of music (as well as sports) to transcend political and geographical boundaries has been a wellspring of inspiration to me.

I thank God Almighty for the tremendous gift of music that has blessed my life in ways well beyond imagination, and has given me a “voice” enabling me to share our beautiful country and our dreams with so many people around the world.

Welcome to my homeland,

Zade
